Publication Ethics & Malpractice Policy
1. Authorship Criteria & Responsibilities
Authorship must be restricted to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the conception, design, translation, or critical drafting of the work. Ghost authorship, gift authorship, or guest authorship is strictly forbidden. Corresponding authors must verify that all named co-authors have approved the final manuscript and consented to submission.
2. Plagiarism Deterrence & Prior Publication
Bleeding Pages uses automated similarity detection (Crossref Similarity Check / iThenticate) on all submitted manuscripts. Submissions containing verbatim text from previous publications without quotation and explicit citation, or paraphrased passages that disguise prior authorship, will be rejected immediately.
3. Handling Allegations of Misconduct
When allegations of scholarly misconduct (such as data fabrication, text recycling, or unauthorized translation) arise:
- The Managing Editor acknowledges the complaint within 5 working days.
- The author is contacted and given 14 days to provide written explanations and primary source materials.
- If misconduct is substantiated, an independent panel of three Editorial Board members determines appropriate sanction: desk rejection, notification of the author's home institution, or post-publication formal retraction.
4. COPE Flowchart Adherence
Bleeding Pages adheres strictly to COPE flowcharts for handling suspected plagiarism, duplicate submission, reviewer bias, and authorship disputes.
