Digital Archiving & Open Access Policy
1. Permanent Open Access Commitment
Bleeding Pages adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access for all articles published under the Scholarly Track. Readers and libraries have immediate, barrier-free, and perpetual right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles without financial or legal barriers other than those inherent in gaining access to the internet.
2. Author Self-Archiving (Green Open Access)
Authors retain the unrestricted right to deposit all versions of their article—including the submitted version, the accepted peer-reviewed manuscript (post-print), and the publisher's final typeset version (Version of Record)—in any institutional, subject, or non-commercial preprint repository (e.g. arXiv, SSRN, Humanities Commons, University Digital Archives) immediately upon publication, with zero embargo period.
3. Long-Term Preservation Infrastructure
To ensure the perpetual availability of our scholarly and literary corpus against server failure or institutional dissolution, Bleeding Pages implements:
- JATS XML Archiving: All published articles are formatted and stored in NISO JATS (Journal Article Tag Suite) 1.3 XML format, ensuring machine readability for century-scale longevity.
- Distributed Digital Preservation: Content is submitted to international preservation networks, including Portico and the LOCKSS/CLOCKSS system.
- OAI-PMH Harvesting: Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting endpoints allow university library discovery layers (Ex Libris Primo, EBSCO Discovery, WorldCat) to harvest article metadata automatically.
