Section 6 AI Directives
Draft for Owner and Legal Review
This policy implements the strict artificial intelligence provisions of Section 6 of the Master Brief. Draft prepared for owner and legal review.
Artificial Intelligence & Language Model Policy
1. Public-Facing AI Policy (§6)
Bleeding Pages is dedicated to genuine human scholarship, literary craftsmanship, and translation. In accordance with Section 6 of our Master Brief:
Core Mandate (§6)
No AI-generated content on the site and no AI features facing users. Undisclosed AI-generated text in submissions is grounds for rejection; reviewers and editors must not upload manuscripts to external AI tools (confidentiality).
2. Author Obligations
- AI Cannot Be Credited as an Author: Artificial intelligence models, LLMs, or algorithms cannot be listed as authors or co-authors on any submission. Authorship carries moral and legal accountability that machines cannot possess.
- Mandatory Disclosure: If generative AI tools were utilized strictly for orthographic or typographical corrections, this must be disclosed in the manuscript's method statement or title page.
- Synthetic Text Prohibited: Using LLMs to synthesize poetry, fiction, scholarly critical arguments, or translations is grounds for immediate desk rejection and a 2-year submission moratorium.
3. Reviewer & Editor Confidentiality (§6)
Reviewers and editors owe absolute confidentiality to submitting scholars.
- Uploading Manuscripts Banned: Uploading unpublished manuscripts, titles, abstracts, or referee reports to external or public generative AI platforms (including OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or web-based summarizers) is an irremediable breach of reviewer confidentiality.
- Commercial Training Risk: Entering unpublished manuscripts into third-party AI interfaces exposes unpatented intellectual discoveries and literary verses to commercial training corpora without author consent.
- Consequences: Any peer reviewer discovered uploading submissions to generative AI tools will be immediately dismissed from the reviewer pool and their home institution notified.
